Timothy Ford provides clinical training and supervision for LMFT, LCSW and LPCC Interns and Trainees. Tim strongly believes that success as a 21st century therapist requires effectively balancing the roles of Healer and Clinician. Since 2011, Tim has helped many psychotherapist trainees and interns prepare for successful licensed practice. Tim has provided supervision in a variety of settings including private practice, outpatient community clinics, residential treatment and school settings. Tim is currently the Associate Dean of Professional Training and Academic Operations for the John F. Kennedy School of Psychology at National University overseeing graduate-level internal and external clinical training for numerous programs including MFT, PCC, MSW and PsyD.
Pre-licensed therapists interested in more information on clinical supervision are encouraged to contact Tim.
Tim’s style of supervision emphasizes:
“I have been licensed as an MFT for about one month, and as I reflect back on my internship it is easy to attribute a healthy portion of my success and enthusiasm for being a therapist, to excellent supervision and mentoring. Tim Ford was my clinical supervisor for these past two years and I could not have asked for a more supportive, professional, and knowledgeable therapist than him to carry me through the preparation for and push toward exams and licensure. His presence during supervision provided a safe and supportive environment to evoke my self-confidence and courage to do my work. Toward the end of every session Tim would routinely leave you with at least one ‘take-away’ intervention, idea, book recommendation or source, or just some thought provoking inspiration to integrate into the rest of my week. Without question, I recommend Tim to any MFT Intern seeking supervision and consultation.”

“Tim was a very knowledgeable and comprehensive supervisor. He truly fit my needs for a private practice internship as I finished my hours for licensing and prepared to take my exams. I credit his guidance in part to my ability to pass both exams on my first try. With a good balance of support in clinical issues and ability to bring in a diverse array of theoretical orientations, our supervision sessions were appropriate for my needs. He was readily available for any crisis that came up. I would recommend Tim as a supervisor for any intern looking to launch out into the realm of private practice.”
